This private Dolomites day trip is designed for cruise travelers arriving at Chioggia Port who want to experience lakes, mountains, and Cortina d’Ampezzo in one comfortable, well-planned day.

We will travel by private air-conditioned minivan from Chioggia Port into the Dolomites, with a scenic route planned around Lake Auronzo, Lake Misurina, Lake Dobbiaco, Lake Braies, and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The day is rich but easy to enjoy. We will see turquoise lakes, dramatic peaks, local stops, and the elegant mountain atmosphere of Cortina, known as the Queen of the Dolomites. In the Lake Misurina area, we can choose lunch by the lake with mountain views or, in summer, take the Col de Varda chairlift to a mountain refuge for a higher panoramic lunch experience.

This is a private driver-led sightseeing tour, not a hiking tour. It is made for travelers who want to see the Dolomites in a relaxed, comfortable, and well-organized way, with pickup and drop-off at Chioggia Port.

After about two hours on the road, we will stop at Beduschi pastry shop in the Cadore area. This will be a short, comfortable mountain break before the next scenic stops. We will slow down for Italian coffee, pastries, or chocolate, the kind of simple local pause that makes a long day feel easier and more enjoyable. Food and drinks are not included.

After about 30 minutes on the road, we will arrive at Lake Auronzo. The first thing many guests notice is the color of the water, a bright turquoise-blue that can look almost unreal in the mountain light. Around the lake, typical alpine houses, forests, and Dolomite peaks create a quiet scene that feels peaceful, natural, and almost like a postcard come to life. We will make a short and easy stop here to enjoy the view and settle into the slower rhythm of the mountains before continuing toward Lake Misurina and the higher viewpoints.

    Lago di Misurina

After about 30 minutes on the road, we will arrive at Lake Misurina, one of the most beautiful and accessible lakes in the Dolomites. Here the landscape opens wide. The lake sits between dramatic mountain peaks, with fresh alpine air, clear water, and a peaceful atmosphere that is easy to enjoy without difficult hiking. We will plan lunch in this area. Depending on the season and timing, guests may enjoy lunch at a restaurant with lake and mountain views, or in summer, when the Col de Varda chairlift is operating, go up to the mountain refuge for lunch with a higher panoramic view over Lake Misurina and the surrounding Dolomites. Lunch and chairlift tickets are not included.

In summer, when the Col de Varda chairlift is operating, we can choose where to have lunch in the Lake Misurina area. We can stay by the lake and enjoy lunch at a restaurant with lake and mountain views, or take the chairlift up to the mountain refuge for a higher panoramic view over Lake Misurina and the surrounding Dolomites. The refuge option is ideal for travelers who want a stronger mountain feeling without a difficult hike. Chairlift tickets and lunch are not included. This choice depends on season.

    Lago di Dobbiaco

After about 25 minutes on the road, we will arrive at Lake Dobbiaco. This lake has a quieter, more intimate feeling than the larger Dolomite stops. Clear alpine water, forests, and mountain peaks create a peaceful scene that invites you to slow down and enjoy a softer side of the mountains. We will make a short and easy stop here, a calm pause in the day before continuing toward Lake Braies.

    Lago di Braies

After about 25 minutes on the road, we will arrive at Lake Braies. This is one of the most famous lakes in the Dolomites, and it is easy to understand why. Emerald water, the wooden boathouse, forests, and dramatic mountains come together in a scene that feels almost unreal. Its beauty is so striking that it has also been chosen as a filming location, adding to the feeling of stepping into a postcard. We will make an easy scenic stop here to enjoy the lake without a difficult hike. Those who wish can rent a rowboat and experience Lake Braies from a quieter, more scenic perspective. Boat rental is not included.

    Cortina d'Ampezzo

After about one hour on the road, we will arrive in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Cortina is the most elegant name in the Dolomites. Known as the “Queen of the Dolomites,” it became famous worldwide after the 1956 Winter Olympics and welcomed the world again during Milano Cortina 2026. Around Cortina, mountains such as Lagazuoi, 5 Torri, and Falzarego carry powerful World War I history, with old trenches, tunnels, and military positions still hidden among beautiful views. Cortina has also attracted cinema, with scenes from James Bond’s For Your Eyes Only and Cliffhanger filmed in the area. We will enjoy Cortina at a relaxed pace, through its alpine beauty, Italian elegance, Olympic history, and cinematic atmosphere without difficult hiking.
