    Murano

    Murano Island is renowned for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Boats filled with eager tourists arrive to explore the Museo del Vetro, which tells the history of glass through the ages, and to purchase local handcrafted souvenirs. The Church of Santa Maria e San Donato, built in Romanesque style, features a vibrant mosaic floor and is said to house the bones of a legendary dragon.

    Burano is located in the Venetian Lagoon, and like its neighbor Venice, seven kilometers to the south, it is actually a locality made up of several small islands connected by bridges. Situated near Torcello at the northern end of the lagoon, it is known for its glassware and lacework.
