Discover the Colosseum’s restricted Underground passages on a private tour led by a licensed guide. Follow the route once used by gladiators, animals and stage crews beneath the arena, then step onto the Arena Floor and continue through the Colosseum’s main public levels.
Choose the standard Colosseum-only experience or extend your tour with a privately guided visit through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Admission to the Forum and Palatine is included with both options; the guided visit is included only with the extended option.
Because this is a private experience, your guide can adapt the pace and commentary to your group’s interests while working around the fixed Underground entry time and the site’s required route.

Meeting and pickup
Meet outside the Colosseum Metro Station, beside the “Casa dell’Acqua ACEA” green water kiosk. The meeting point is on the lower level outside the station, not inside it. Your licensed guide will be holding a Real Rome Tours sign.

- Colosseum tickets are non-transferable and tied to the name on your booking. The name on your ID must match the name you provided during booking.
- Accepted IDs: Passport, Driver’s License, Official National ID Card
- Photocopies or digital versions are NOT accepted. If you forget your ID or if your names do not match, the Colosseum staff will unfortunately not allow you to enter.
- Prohibited items: Of course, no dangerous items are allowed. Think of airport security – anything prohibited there is also prohibited at the Colosseum.
- Bag restrictions: Bags must be no larger than 30x40x15cm. There are no storage facilities at the Colosseum. Please leave unnecessary items at your accommodation.
- Water & hydration: You can bring a water bottle, and there are free water fountains and kiosks nearby to refill it.
- There is no dress code for this tour, but we recommend comfortable shoes as there will be a fair amount of walking, as well as clothing appropriate for the weather.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
