Meeting and pickup
Your tour departs one hour after your cruise arrives at Costa Maya Port. Meet at Plaza Las Fuentes, just outside the port area. Allow 15 minutes to walk from your ship. Provide your full cruise ship name when booking. Detailed directions and a map will follow confirmation.

Your adventure begins one hour after your cruise ship arrives at Costa Maya Port. From the meeting point just outside the port, travel approximately 50 minutes to Chacchoben Village, where a local Maya family welcomes you into their community. Witness the daily life of the heirs of this great culture as you interact with your hosts and discover traditions passed down through generations. Learn about local ingredients and home remedies, watch a traditional tortilla-making demonstration and try making your own tortilla by hand. A family visit would not be complete without sharing a meal. Enjoy an authentic home-cooked lunch featuring traditional tamales and other dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients, Maya spices and family recipes. After saying goodbye to your hosts, continue approximately 25 minutes to Bacalar Lagoon for the refreshing second half of your adventure.

2Lago Bacalar (Lake of the Seven Colors)
Arrive at the spectacular Bacalar Lagoon, once a famous haven for pirates and today known for the brilliant shades of blue of its Seven Color Lagoon. Its crystal-clear freshwater is the perfect place to cool off and relax after your Maya experience. Swim in the refreshing lagoon, explore by kayak or simply relax by the water and take in the incredible scenery. Settle into a lounger, enjoy the breeze or grab a refreshing drink while overlooking Bacalar’s colorful waters. Enjoy horchata, hibiscus tea and iced tea, plus two alcoholic beverages for guests 21+, with a choice of beer or select classic cocktails. Complimentary kayaks, loungers, umbrellas and WiFi are also available. After your time at the lagoon, relax on the ride back to Costa Maya, taking with you memories of a day that brought together living Maya traditions and the breathtaking waters of Bacalar.

- Water Safety: Life vests are mandatory for all water activities and are provided. Water activities may be restricted by local authorities due to wind, lightning or other unsafe weather conditions.
- Alcoholic Beverages: The two included alcoholic beverages are available only to guests 21 years and older. Please drink responsibly and enjoy the experience in moderation.
- Children: Children of all ages may participate, although the experience is best appreciated by children ages 6 and older.
- What to Bring: Bring a swimsuit, personal towel, change of clothes, biodegradable sunscreen and extra cash for optional purchases. Credit cards may not be accepted outside the port area.
- Rain or Shine: This tour operates rain or shine. Please check the forecast and dress appropriately for the day’s weather.
- Late Arrivals / No-Shows: Guests who arrive late or fail to show up for their scheduled activity are not eligible for a refund.
- Weight limit for a single kayak is 220 pounds or 270 pounds for a double kayak
- This is an easy tour suitable for guests with a basic level of fitness. Swimming, kayaking and other water activities require a moderate level of physical fitness and comfort in the water.
- Transportation vehicles can accommodate foldable/collapsible wheelchairs only. Non-folding wheelchairs cannot be accommodated. Due to the natural terrain and access points, the Bacalar Lagoon portion is not wheelchair accessible.
- Kayaking is not permitted for pregnant guests.
- Dietary Requirements: Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are available upon request. Please provide dietary requirements in advance so the host family can prepare accordingly.
