The Nelson Mandela Gateway To Robben Island

Travelers who do not require hotel pickup should meet us at the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island, located at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Please arrive at the meeting point at least 30 minutes before the scheduled ferry departure to allow enough time for check-in and boarding.

  • Robben Island Museum (Pass by)

    After arriving at Murray’s Bay Harbour, guests join a guided island tour by bus and visit important historical sites, including the Lime Quarry, Robert Sobukwe’s house, military sites and the Maximum Security Prison. The most powerful part of the experience is the prison tour led by a Robben Island guide, traditionally including former political prisoners, who share personal experiences and explain what life was like for political prisoners during apartheid. The tour ends with a visit to Nelson Mandela’s former prison cell.
