Visit Robben Island, one of South Africa’s most important historical landmarks, with your museum admission and return ferry journey arranged in advance.
Depart from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront and cross Table Bay by ferry to Robben Island. On arrival, join the official Robben Island Museum programme to explore the island’s history, important heritage sites and former maximum-security prison, where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were incarcerated.
This is a shared Robben Island Museum experience. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, so guests must make their own way to the Nelson Mandela Gateway and arrive at least 45 minutes before departure for check-in and boarding.
After the museum programme, return by ferry to the V&A Waterfront.
Please note that ferry operations are weather dependent and may be delayed, changed or cancelled by Robben Island Museum for operational or safety reasons.
This experience does not include hotel pickup or drop off. Please make your way tothe meeting point. If for exemple, the ferry departure shown on the booking is 09:00, the guest should arrive by approximately 08:15 under the 45-minute requirement.
The Waterfront Clock Tower/Nelson Mandela Gateway is not simply a “pass by.” It is where the traveller reports for check-in and boards the ferry.
