Meeting and pickup
The oyster farm is located at the far south of Santa Catarina Island, approximately a 1-hour drive from downtown Florianópolis. While the route along the bay offers beautiful scenic views, please factor in this travel time when planning your departure.
Please meet your guide at the main entrance of Paraíso das Ostras, marked by the main sign. Your guide will be easy to spot wearing an orange shirt and cap.
What to expect
Located at Paraíso das Ostras in Ribeirão da Ilha, this 3-part tour reveals how Florianópolis produces its world-renowned shellfish, guided by the farm owner or a marine engineer:
On Land: Start at the onshore facilities to discover how oysters are seeded, grown, and prepared for the ocean.
On the Water: Board the farm’s private boat and navigate into the bay to inspect the submerged lines and floating marine beds up close.
The Grand Finale: Conclude onboard the vessel, featuring custom tables built to hold wine glasses and dishes, with a curated tasting of fresh oysters prepared in distinct culinary styles.
