There are 3 options to get from Quito to Grand Selva Lodge. Option 1: by bus, changing buses in Tena, 6-7 hours, $ 9 Option 2: shared taxi from your location in Quito to Grand Selva Lodge at 5 am and 12 pm and 5 pm and takes about 4.30 hrs., $40 per person. Option 3: private taxi, 4 hours $ 120
11 am: Pick up from your location in the surroundings of Tena Grand Selva Lodge. On your arrival our staff will welcome you with the traditional Guayusa drink and a short briefing about activities and lodging with the designation of your private room. 12 pm: Lunch with local and organic ingredients. 4 pm: Traditional elaboration of cacao beans, tasting with fruits and facial chocolate mask. 7 pm: Dinner with local and organic ingredients. 8 pm: Night Walk to observe different types of insects, reptiles and birds with explanation of its characteristics such as spiders, snakes, grasshoppers, frogs, owls, guiles and the Paiche Arapaima lagoon on one of the best night hikes in the Amazon.
After breakfast, we'll get ready to visit the waterfalls "Cascadas de Latas". This guided tour takes you through a majestic landscape of pure jungle harmony. The guide will explain the most interesting aspects of the flora and fauna. The healing power of standing beneath the waterfall and allowing the water to massage your body provides a feeling of relaxation and rejuvenates your senses. You'll be able to see and feel the waterfalls cascading into one beautiful pool after another. These natural pools invite you to bathe in the fresh, crystal-clear water that flows from the mountains.
Next, we visit the Monkey Beach, the Amazonian port where we enjoy a local lunch. This afternoon, a tour to a biological lagoon awaits us, an immersive experience in the Amazon. The adventure begins with a transfer to the reserve, followed by a gentle hike along trails surrounded by lush vegetation, where it's common to see tropical birds, monkeys, and a wide variety of flora. Upon arrival at the lagoon we will board on a quiet canoe ride, ideal for appreciating the biodiversity from a unique perspective, surrounded by natural sounds and pristine landscapes. During the tour, a naturalist guide shares knowledge about the ecosystem, local species, and the importance of a sustainable relationship with the rainforest. Dinner will be served at 7 pm.
At 8 am we will enjoy a continental breakfast with homemade bread, eggs, ham, cheese, jam, butter, fresh fruit juice, milk, coffee and tea. Then we prepare for the "Full Day Amazoonico" which consists of tubing or kayaking down the Arajuno river. We arrive at “Amazoonico”, an animal rescue center, a great opportunity to observe wild animals and contribute to their well-being. Later, in the motorized canoe, we will visit the Anaconda Island where we will be received by an indigenous family who will give us a presentation of the blowpipe, the extraction of the fiber of the pita plant, elaboration and tasting of chicha. We will also see the hoatzin bird and the swamp of caimans. A Box-Lunch will be served to us on the riverbank. Upon returning in the motorized canoe we will observe the Paiche Arapaima Lagoon– the monster of the Amazon. At 7 pm we will meet in the restaurant for dinner.
This morning, a fascinating experience awaits us at the butterfly farm. We begin by crossing the majestic Napo River by ferry, heading to a sanctuary that is home to more than 30 species of butterflies. There, you will enjoy a guided tour through flower-filled gardens, where you will discover curious and surprising facts about these marvelous creatures, their incredible life cycle, and many more secrets that make this visit a unique and unforgettable experience.
Next, we will get ready for an authentic activity in the protected primary forest reserve with native guides explaining the harmonious experience with the jungle, giant trees, and impressive viewpoints.
At 8 am we will enjoy a continental breakfast with homemade bread, eggs, ham, cheese, jam, butter, fresh fruit juice, milk, coffee and tea. At 10 am you will get dropped off at your requested location in the surrounding areas of Tena.
