Travel from Sapporo to Yoichi and begin the day at the historic Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery. The distillery is closely associated with the development of Japanese whisky and is known for its traditional production methods, historic buildings, museum, shop, and tasting facilities. Official information confirms that the guided distillery tour requires advance reservation, while the restaurant and museum tasting bar can be used without a tour reservation. The official guided tour lasts about 60 minutes and is free, but advance reservation is required. The current reservation system generally accepts bookings for the upcoming four weeks. Guests who do not have a guided-tour reservation may still visit designated public facilities when available.
Continue to Otaru and explore the historic Sakaimachi Street area, where former merchant buildings now house glass shops, confectionery stores, cafés, music-box shops, and local souvenir stores.
