Begin the day in western Kyoto at Arashiyama. Walk through the famous Bamboo Grove, enjoy the traditional atmosphere of the district, and continue toward Togetsukyo Bridge for views of the Katsura River and surrounding mountains. The standard visit focuses on the Bamboo Grove, Togetsukyo Bridge, and surrounding streets. Additional attractions such as temples or the Monkey Park may require extra time and admission fees and should be requested in advance.
Visit Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto’s famous Golden Pavilion. Follow the garden path around the reflective pond and enjoy views of the gold-covered pavilion from several viewpoints. Admission is not included in the tour price and must be paid separately.
Continue to eastern Kyoto and visit Kiyomizu-dera, one of the city’s most recognizable temples. Enjoy views from the temple grounds and explore the historic hillside atmosphere surrounding the site. Admission is not included. During busy seasons, entrance queues and traffic around Higashiyama may reduce the available visiting time.
Walk through the preserved streets of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka after visiting Kiyomizu-dera. Explore traditional wooden buildings, small shops, cafés, craft stores, and one of Kyoto’s most photogenic historic neighborhoods. Food, drinks, shopping, and personal purchases are at the guest’s own expense.
Continue into Gion and walk around Hanamikoji and the surrounding traditional streets. See preserved machiya townhouses, teahouses, restaurants, and the atmosphere of Kyoto’s historic entertainment district.
Finish the sightseeing route at Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its rows of vermilion torii gates. Walk through the lower shrine grounds and part of the Senbon Torii route before returning to the vehicle.
