Passage through centuries-old olive groves and and vineyards
The Alpajares Stone Trail is one of the most remarkable historic paths in the Douro International region. Built centuries ago, this ancient stone-paved route was once used by local communities, shepherds, traders, and pilgrims to cross the rugged landscape and connect remote villages. The spot provides spectacular views over the Douro International Natural Park, with dramatic cliffs, deep river valleys, and excellent opportunities to observe birds of prey, including griffon vultures, Egyptian vultures, and, with some luck, the iconic golden eagle.
