The most visited one is the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station, on the Yamanashi side of the mountain, at an elevation of about 2,300 meters (7,500 feet). It is the highest point on Mt. Fuji that is normally accessible by road during much of the year. From there, visitors can enjoy mountain views, visit shops and restaurants, see a small shrine, buy souvenirs, and experience the atmosphere of Mt. Fuji without climbing to the summit. It is also a major starting point for people climbing Mt. Fuji during the official climbing season. For sightseeing tours, a visit usually takes around 30–60 minutes, depending on weather and traffic. One important point: access to the 5th Station can sometimes be restricted because of snow, bad weather, road closures, or seasonal traffic regulations.
Nestled in the Fuji Five Lake region between Lake Yamanaka and Lake Kawaguchi, Oshino Hakkai is a popular tourist destination known for its eight scenic ponds. These ponds are fed by the pure snowmelt from Mount Fuji's slopes, which gradually filters through porous lava layers over 80 years. The result is exceptionally clear spring water, cherished by the locals for its pristine quality. Some Japanese traditional foods and sweets are available. ( Soba noodles, grilled fish skewers, mochi dumplings, etc.)
Situated on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, Oishi Park offers a stunning panorama of both the lake and Mount Fuji. The park renowned for its captivating lavender fields, creating a picturesque scene with the iconic mountain as a backdrop in spring. The Flower Street, adorned with seasonal blooms like crimson Kokia in autumn, enhances the park's beauty. Even during winter, Oishi Park remains a popular destination with its enchanting winter illumination. You can enjoy its attractive view throughout the year.
Arakura Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine, located in the picturesque Arakurayama Sengen Park, boasts a striking five-story pagoda that offers breathtaking views of Mount Fuji. This renowned scenic spot is popular during cherry blossom in any season, allowing visitors to capture a single shot featuring two iconic Japanese elements: Mount Fuji and a vibrant red pagoda. The shrine, known as Sangoku Daiichisan Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, is dedicated to Mount Arakura, creating a sacred atmosphere in the area.
