Experience Okinawan culture through the sound of the sanshin in a traditional Okinawan house in Nakijin.

A local Okinawan instructor will teach you how to play simple and popular Okinawan folk songs and island melodies. The lesson is designed for beginners, and by the end of the one-hour experience, you may be able to play a simple tune yourself.

The experience takes place in a peaceful traditional Okinawan house surrounded by lush greenery and a spacious garden. Relax in the tranquil atmosphere while enjoying the unique culture and music of Okinawa.

To ensure a personalized and enjoyable experience, group sizes are limited to a maximum of 10 participants.

Commemorative photos are welcome, making this a memorable part of your Okinawa journey.

What to expect

Enjoy a traditional Okinawan sanshin experience at a historic Okinawan guesthouse in Nakijin.

A professional sanshin instructor will come to the venue and guide you through the experience. You will also have the opportunity to take commemorative photos, creating lasting memories of your time in Okinawa.

If you find it difficult to play the sanshin yourself, the experience can be changed to a performance appreciation course, where you can relax and enjoy listening to the instructor's live music.

An English-speaking interpreter can also be arranged upon request.

During the experience, guests can enjoy the traditional Okinawan house, including a Japanese-style tatami room, a cozy living area, and a large garden surrounded by nature. These beautiful spaces provide the perfect setting for learning and enjoying Okinawan culture.
