Along the way, the stop at a women's Argan oil cooperative is a real look at how the oil is pressed by hand, not a scripted shop detour, and there's no pressure to buy. And unlike almost every other Agafay lunch product on the market, guests get pool access afterward to actually unwind before the drive back, instead of being loaded straight into the van the moment lunch ends.

Marrakech is where this experience begins and ends. Travelers are collected directly from their hotel or riad — in the medina, the newer Gueliz district, or wherever they're staying in the city — by a friendly Ifraden Expeditions guide or driver, no need to find a meeting point or arrange their own transport. From the moment of pickup, the guide explains what's ahead: the stop in Oumnass, the ride through Agafay, and the lunch and pool time at the desert camp, so travelers know what to expect at each stage of the day rather than being surprised by it. The same guide or driver brings everyone back to their exact pickup point at the end of the day.

Oumnass sits about 25 minutes outside Marrakech, and it's the first real stop on this route — a chance to see how Argan oil, one of Morocco's best-known exports, is actually made. Travelers visit a women's cooperative where the oil is still pressed by hand using traditional methods passed down through generations, a process most visitors to Morocco never get to see up close. Booking this experience, travelers spend about 20 minutes at the cooperative watching the pressing demonstration and sitting down to a breakfast served on site — bread, oil, and traditional accompaniments — before continuing on toward Agafay. There's no obligation to buy, though Argan oil products are available for those who want to bring some home directly from the source rather than a shop in the medina.

2Agafay
Agafay is a rocky, lunar-like desert reached after the stop in Oumnass — stone plateau and dry hills, with the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains rising on the horizon. It's a completely different landscape from the sandy dunes of the Sahara, and this is where the day's main activities happen. Booking this experience, travelers ride a double quad bike (two-up) for a full hour across rocky tracks and open plateau, then swap engines for a camel dressed in traditional scarves for a 20-minute crossing of a quieter stretch of desert. Both activities are guided, with safety instruction given before the quad ride begins.

The desert camp is the final stop of the day, set in the Agafay landscape after the quad and camel activities are done. It's where the pace of the day slows down deliberately, after a morning of movement. Booking this experience, travelers sit down to a traditional Moroccan lunch prepared at the camp, then have free time to use the camp's pool before the drive back to Marrakech — a chance to cool off and relax rather than being rushed straight back into the vehicle. Travelers should bring swimwear and a towel to make use of the pool. What travelers won't find here: a quick sandwich lunch or an immediate departure — the camp is built for lingering, not passing through.
