During the 19th century, Hermoupolis, its capital, was the major commercial, financial and industrial center of Greece, also known as the «Manchester of the Mediterranean»!
This is why, in one part of the city there are neoclassical, impressive buildings of the bourgeois class, while in the other half, you can walk through an amazing industrial wasteland, full of tanneries, warehouses, textile factories, Neorio shipyard and working class neighborhoods.
During this walking tour you will:

Meeting and pickup
We will meet at 09.30 at Markos Vamvakaris statue, which is located in a little square, in the main road of the port.
Our walking tour will end at the Library & Information Center of the University of the Aegean, which used to host Kornilakis Tannery.
