The Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral is the main Catholic temple in Montevideo. Zabala Square is a public space located in the Old City of Montevideo. Opened in December 1890, it was named after the Spanish soldier Bruno Mauricio de Zabala, founder of the city. It was designed by the French landscape designer Édouard-François André, who drew inspiration from the European gardens of the beautiful era.
The Port Market is a gastronomic and cultural walk in Montevideo. It was inaugurated on October 10, 1868 as a market supplier of fruits, vegetables and meats to the ships that arrived at the Montevideo Bay and to the wealthy families that then erected their mansions in the surrounding area. The fruit shops, greengrocers and butchers became, over the years, the famous and minted places of food and drinks.
