Meeting and pickup

Meeting point

Hop on the East by West Ferry at Queens Wharf in Wellington CBD. We recommend you arrive 10 minutes prior to departure time (check their website for sailing times). Show the crew your booking confirmation email (no need to purchase a ticket).

End point

Return your eBikes by 3.30pm at the East by West Office, located at 55 Lady Elizabeth Lane, Queens Wharf, Wellington CBD.

What to expect

Catch the East by West Ferry over from Wellington CBD to Days Bay. We'll meet you at the end of the wharf at Days Bay, set you up on your eBikes and brief you on the route.

For those wanting a longer ride, choose an optional 25km out-and-back ride along flat trails to Pencarrow Lighthouse.

From Days Bay, follow the new shared pathway, Tupua Horo Nuku, along the Eastern Bays as you make your way along this flat, beautiful coastline. Reach the Hutt River, then continue along the Petone foreshore (check out the Petone Settlers Museum right on the waterfront, and we highly recommend stopping for a bite to eat at Seashore Cabaret). From Petone, join the second shared pathway Te Ara Tupua as you make your way around the harbour on this stunning, newly completed section. Once you reach Ngauranga, you'll be on cycle paths beside the road as you make your way into the city and back to Queens Wharf.

You can drop the eBike back to the East by West Ferries Office anytime before 3.30pm. If you arrive early and are keen to continue your cycling adventure, we highly recommend exploring the waterfront - shared paths will take you along the historic waterfront area as you make your way around the harbour to the famous Te Papa Museum, continuing on to the golden sands of Oriental Bay, then out to Evans Bay and the Miramar Peninsula.
