Meet in Addis Ababa in the morning and drive 230 km northeast to Awash National Park, located in the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley. The scenic drive takes you past volcanic mountains and expansive lava fields, with dramatic valleys along the way. Stop at Beseka Lake, a haven for birdwatching, where you can spot pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, saddle-billed storks, and more. Observe the nomadic Kereyu tribe as they bring their camels to the water. In the afternoon, continue to Awash National Park for an optional evening game drive and a visit to the spectacular Awash Falls. Wildlife sightings may include beisa oryx, baboons, greater and lesser kudu, warthogs, gazelles, and colobus monkeys. If you're fortunate, you might even spot big cats. njoy an early morning game drive in Aledeghi Wildlife Reserve, where you may encounter olive baboons, beisa oryx, Soemmering’s gazelle, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, waterbucks, and possibly kori or Arabian bustards. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the many indigenous species found here. After the game drive, return to Doho Lodge & Hot Springs, overlooking Doho Lake, which is formed by natural hot springs. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at the hot springs or enjoy an optional visit to local Afar villages to experience their culture.
After a leisurely morning at the lodge, drive back to Addis Ababa via Debre Zeit, stopping at the crater lakes for a scenic break. You can relax at one of the lakeside resorts before completing your journey. Arrive in Addis Ababa in the late afternoon, enjoy a farewell dinner, and prepare for your departure.
