This isn’t a typical boat tour—it’s a hands-on Maine lobster fishing experience rooted in real working-waterfront traditions.

Choose from three ways to experience it:

Lobster Fishing Only — NO MEAL INCLUDED
Head onto Penobscot Bay and haul real lobster traps while learning the tools, techniques and traditions of Maine’s iconic fishery. See what comes up—lobsters, crabs and the occasional surprise.

Lobster Fishing + Feast
Enjoy the full hands-on fishing experience, then step ashore for a VIP stop at Young’s Lobster Pound and a classic Maine lobster feast. From trap to table, this is the real thing.

The Ultimate Maine Experience — Lobster Feast + Sunset Cruise
Haul real traps, feast at Young’s, then head back onto the bay and cruise into a spectacular Maine sunset. Lobsters, feast and sunset—all in one unforgettable experience.

Whichever you choose, expect small groups, real participation, local knowledge and a genuine taste of Maine’s working waterfront.

What to expect

Climb aboard The Out & About for a hands-on lobster boat experience in Belfast, Maine, and head onto Penobscot Bay to explore one of Maine’s most iconic traditions—lobster fishing.

This is more than a boat tour. It’s a small-group, working waterfront experience where you’ll step into the rhythm of the Maine coast—salt air, open water, and life on the bay.

You’ll learn the tools and techniques behind Maine lobster fishing as we cruise to the trap lines. Watch—and take part—as traps are hauled from the water, then gather round to see what’s inside. Expect lobsters, crabs, and the occasional surprise catch.

Along the way, hear local stories, superstitions, and how the fishery is managed to keep it thriving for generations.

Depending on the option you choose, your experience may also include a VIP stop at Young’s Lobster Pound for a classic Maine lobster feast and, on our ultimate experience, a sunset cruise back across the bay.

Every trip is different. Fog, sun, breeze, wildlife and the catch itself all shape the day—and that’s part of the experience.

Please check your selected option carefully, as the feast and sunset cruise are only included where specifically stated.
