What to expect

A full day diving two of the Bay of Islands' best sites from our dive boat Sentinel. After a 30-minute cruise through the islands, where we often see dolphins, penguins and seals, we moor at Deep Water Cove near Cape Brett to dive the HMNZS Canterbury. This former Navy frigate was sunk in 2007 and sits upright and intact. The top of the wreck is at 14m and her decks lie between 22m and 28m, where you can swim from the bridge to the helicopter hangar. She is covered in jewel anemones, with schools of fish, snapper and kingfish around her.

You then move to a reef for lunch and snorkelling, and a second dive exploring caves, arches and swim-throughs, normally 18m or shallower. We are back at Paihia wharf around 3:30pm.

Advanced divers dive the wreck with the group (dived in the last 18 months). Open Water divers dive it with an instructor as an SSI Deep Adventure Dive (dived in the last 12 months). All scuba gear is included.
