  At Historic Fire Station No. 6 on Auburn Avenue, guests learn how even a neighborhood firehouse reveals the reality of segregation in Atlanta. This stop explores how Atlanta’s fire department was one of the city’s last municipal departments to integrate and how racial barriers shaped everyday life in the community Dr. King called home. Guests will also hear the powerful story of Dr. King’s early encounter with racism near this very fire station, helping them understand that his fight for justice was not abstract—it was personal, local, and rooted in childhood experiences.
