This is our home in Arashiyama, Kyoto. When you are here, it is yours for the day. We cook together, eat together, and talk — about food, about Japan, about whatever comes up.

In one afternoon, you will make vegan soy sauce ramen broth from scratch, roll maki sushi with our homemade tofu and Hatcho miso filling, assemble temaki by hand, and finish with hand-whisked matcha and warabi mochi.

Your hosts are Satoru, a professional chef with over 30 years of experience, and Akiko, a fluent English speaker. Every ingredient is explained. 100% plant-based and dashi-free. You will always know exactly what is in your food.

What to expect

Vegan Shoyu Ramen (Soy Sauce Ramen)
Rich vegan soy sauce broth built from scratch — kombu, shiitake, and slow-simmered vegetables. Deep umami, no animal ingredients, no shortcuts. Even guests who eat meat tell us it is the best ramen they have had in Japan.

Vegan Maki Sushi with Tofu & Hatcho Miso
Our homemade tofu and Hatcho miso filling — savory, rich, and entirely plant-based — rolled with fresh crunchy vegetables. A satisfying twist on classic maki.

Vegan Temaki Sushi (Hand-Rolled Sushi)
Roll your own cone-shaped sushi with nori, seasoned rice, and colorful seasonal vegetables. The most relaxed and social style of sushi — you fill, roll, and eat as you go.

Matcha (Premium Green Tea)
Hand-whisked matcha prepared in the traditional style. Vibrant, earthy, and quietly satisfying.

Warabi Mochi
A naturally vegan Japanese sweet. Chilled and chewy, dusted with fragrant kinako (roasted soybean flour).
