Your journey begins at 8:00 AM with pickup from your hotel or designated meeting point in Dhaka. We travel northwest to Naogaon, a peaceful district in northern Bangladesh renowned for its rich agricultural landscape, ancient archaeological treasures, and authentic rural traditions. Along the way, you'll cross the mighty Jamuna River via one of Bangladesh's longest bridges, offering sweeping views of the country's most important waterways. We'll stop at a local highway restaurant for lunch before continuing the scenic drive through villages and countryside. The total journey takes approximately 5 to 8 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Upon arrival, you'll check into a traditional two-storied clay house, where you'll experience authentic village hospitality. Guests stay in a private room on the second floor, accessed by charming clay stairs reminiscent of climbing an old fort. The shared bathroom is located outside the house and is used by both the host family and guests. It features a Western-style toilet, shower, shampoo, shower gel, and bucket water facilities. While there is no water heater, hot water can be provided upon request. After settling in, spend a relaxing evening enjoying the peaceful village atmosphere. If your visit coincides with the village's weekly market day, we'll take a short walk through the lively local market, where villagers gather to buy, sell, and socialize. Evening snacks prepared by your host family will be served before dinner. Overnight stay at the traditional village homestay.
Wake up early for a peaceful village photowalk, one of the highlights of the experience. As the countryside comes alive, you'll walk along quiet village paths, observing farmers beginning their day, children heading to school, and the gentle rhythm of rural Bengal. We'll stop at a small local tea stall for a cup of freshly brewed tea before returning to the homestay for breakfast. Later in the morning, join the women of the host family for a hands-on Bengali cooking session, where you'll learn how traditional village dishes are prepared using fresh local ingredients. Afterwards, enjoy the delicious lunch you've helped create.
In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Somapura Mahavihara, also known as Paharpur Buddhist Vihara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of South Asia's largest and most significant Buddhist monasteries. Depending on local conditions, we'll travel by private car or a traditional village tricycle van. After exploring the archaeological site, return to the homestay. In the late afternoon, enjoy another cultural experience as your hosts demonstrate how to prepare traditional Bengali pitha (rice cakes/pancakes). Taste a variety of freshly made pithas before enjoying a home-cooked village dinner. Overnight stay at the traditional village homestay.
After breakfast, say goodbye to your host family and begin the return journey to Dhaka. Relax as you travel back through the beautiful countryside, with comfort breaks along the way. Arrival in Dhaka is expected in the evening, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, marking the end of your authentic rural Bangladesh experience.
