Kinusaiga Upcycling Workshop for Home Decor

2 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

This is more than a craft workshop—it is a creative upcycling experience.

The fabrics used in the workshop come from leftover and surplus textile materials. Instead of being discarded, they become the colors, patterns, and textures of a new artwork.

Every participant makes something different. Even when two people choose the same pattern, their fabric combinations, textures, colors, and placement choices make each finished piece unique.

It is a simple but powerful way to experience sustainability through creativity: take something unwanted, rethink its value, and turn it into something you are proud to display.

What to expect

Give leftover textiles a new life and transform them into a beautiful piece of art.

In this hands-on Kinusaiga workshop, you’ll use textile offcuts and surplus fabrics that would otherwise go unused to create your own framed fabric mosaic. Choose a design from our collection, select fabrics by color, pattern, and texture, and gradually build your composition piece by piece.

Rather than starting with new decorative materials, this experience focuses on upcycling: turning existing textile waste into something personal, creative, and valuable.

With step-by-step guidance from your instructor, you’ll carve your chosen design into a prepared surface, fold and place different pieces of fabric into the sections, and watch discarded textile fragments come together as a unique artwork.

No sewing or previous art experience is required.

At the end of the approximately 2-hour workshop, your artwork is framed and packaged for you to take home the same day—a one-of-a-kind reminder that materials considered waste can become something worth displaying.
