FeelGood! Nature Tours runs small-group Blue Mountains day tours from Sydney, guided by owner-operator Craig, a lifelong Sydney local and former professional photographer with 40 years exploring the region.
This is a late start: departs between 9:30am and 12:30pm depending on the season, not the usual 7:30am. In a small group of no more than 10, walk into the bush and find wild kangaroos grazing in Megalong Valley, away from the crowded lookouts.
Choose a hidden Three Sisters viewpoint used by rock climbers, or the easier iconic Echo Point option, then meet back up. Lunch is a proper Aussie pie from award-winning Mountain High Pies, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free automatically catered for.
As the sun sets over a secret location, usually the Three Sisters or Anvil Rock, enjoy a twilight spread of Yarra Valley Shiraz, Brie and Danish Blue cheese, included as standard.
A full day out, roughly 10 hours door to door. Not a hardcore hike, but expect uneven ground underfoot.
Meeting point: the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel near Circular Quay, one of the best connected areas of Sydney by public transport or a short walk from many of the city's hotels; your guide will hold a sign reading "FeelGood! Nature Tours"
