Visit the Maya village of Chacchoben, sharing the same name and ancestral roots as the ancient Mayan city nearby. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the everyday life of a local Maya family and learn more about a culture that has been preserved through generations. Meet your hosts and discover their traditions as they share how traditional corn tortillas are made, introduce you to local ingredients, and tell you about traditional home remedies and the plants and natural resources found in their community. No family visit would be complete without sharing a meal. Enjoy a delicious selection of traditional Maya dishes prepared using time-honored recipes and techniques passed down from generation to generation.
