Your journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital city of Nepal and the gateway to the Himalayas. Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative and transferred to your hotel. During the drive, you can experience the lively atmosphere of Kathmandu, with its busy streets, colorful markets, ancient temples, and traditional Nepalese culture. After checking into the hotel, you can relax and recover from your flight. Depending on your arrival time, there may be an opportunity to explore nearby areas such as Thamel, a popular tourist district filled with cafes, restaurants, trekking shops, and cultural attractions. In the evening, a short briefing will be provided about the volunteer program, travel arrangements, local customs, safety guidelines, and the activities planned for the coming days.
After breakfast, you will leave Kathmandu and begin a scenic drive toward Baireni in Nalang, located in the Dhading District. The journey offers beautiful views of green hills, terraced farmlands, rivers, and traditional rural settlements. As the city landscape gradually changes into peaceful countryside scenery, you will experience the authentic lifestyle of Nepalese villages. Upon arrival in Baireni, you will meet the local community and the beekeeping hosts involved in the volunteer project. The village provides a quiet and natural environment surrounded by forests and agricultural land. After settling into your accommodation, you may take a short walk around the area to observe local farming practices, interact with villagers, and gain an introduction to traditional honeybee farming in Nepal. The evening can be spent learning about the importance of bees in local agriculture, honey production, and environmental conservation.
This day focuses on hands-on volunteer activities related to sustainable beekeeping and community support. After breakfast, you will visit the bee farming area where experienced local beekeepers will introduce different types of honeybees found in Nepal, their behavior, hive structures, and the role they play in pollination and biodiversity. One of the highlights of the day is beehive observation, where participants can closely observe how bee colony's function, including the activities of worker bees, drones, and the queen bee. Safety procedures and proper handling techniques will also be explained. Depending on the season and project needs, volunteers may assist with hive cleaning, preparing bee boxes, maintaining the surrounding environment, or helping with honey collection processes. This experience provides a deeper understanding of rural livelihoods and eco-friendly farming practices while supporting the local community.
The second day of volunteering allows participants to continue supporting ongoing beekeeping and community activities. You may help in maintaining apiaries, preparing natural feeding materials, cleaning equipment, or assisting in awareness activities related to bee conservation and sustainable agriculture. Volunteers also get opportunities to interact more closely with local families and learn about traditional village life. Apart from beekeeping tasks, the program may include cultural exchange activities, educational support, or participation in local farming work depending on community requirements. This day offers a meaningful chance to contribute to environmental sustainability while building connections with local people. The peaceful setting of the village, combined with the rewarding volunteer experience, creates a memorable and educational stay in rural Nepal.
On the final day, you will conclude the volunteer service activities and spend some time reflecting on the experience with the local hosts and community members. Before departure, there may be a short farewell gathering where participants can share experiences, feedback, and appreciation for the collaboration and cultural exchange during the program. After lunch or morning tea, you will begin the drive back to Kathmandu. The return journey once again offers scenic countryside views and a final opportunity to enjoy Nepal’s rural landscapes. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. The evening is free for relaxation, shopping, or exploring the cultural sites of the city before your onward journey or departure from Nepal.
