Few places put towering sand dunes and crashing Atlantic waves in the same frame. Sandwich Harbour is one of them, and this tour gets you there with a photographer who knows the best spots.

For 1-4 guests: solo travelers, couples, or families of 3-4.

Pick-up is from your accommodation in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund. We work through the Walvis Bay Lagoon, Salt Pans, and Kuiseb River Delta, with photoshoot stops at the best viewpoints along the way. When tides allow, we reach the lagoon by beach. Keep an eye out for flamingos, oryx, springbok, ostrich, and jackal.

Midway through, we stop for snacks, homemade bakes, and sparkling wine. Beer, soft drinks, and water available throughout.

Itinerary

    Walvis Bay

    We will start at Walvis Bay Lagoon, a Ramsar site and an important wetland for birdlife. If the flamingos have returned from the breeding season, we should see plenty of them around the lagoon. From there, we head south along the coast, with a stop at the famous Pink Lake before continuing towards Sandwich Harbour. Once we reach Sandwich Harbour, we will stop at several scenic viewpoints along the way, giving you plenty of opportunities to take photos and enjoy the dramatic desert landscape where the dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • The product is not wheelchair accessible.
  • We will stop at various viewpoints with the 4WD, and you're welcome to walk a few meters — 20-30 meters max — to get good photos from various angles.
  • Guests will travel with a guide and photographer (me) by 4WD vehicle to several viewpoints in the Sandwich Harbour area. The drive includes 4WD driving over the dunes.
