Your boat and skipper are reserved exclusively for your group of up to six guests, giving you a more personal experience and the freedom to shape the trip around what you want from your time on Lake Wakatipu.
Whether you’re a couple, family, group of friends or keen anglers, your skipper can adapt the pace, level of guidance and fishing techniques to suit your experience and interests. Beginners can have plenty of hands-on help, while experienced anglers can spend more time talking techniques and exploring different approaches where conditions allow.
Once fishing, our fully electric trolling motor means no engine noise. Its GPS route-following system can automatically guide the boat along the fishing route, giving your skipper more time to focus on your group, help with the fishing and share his local knowledge.
Quality fishing gear, a comfortable purpose-built boat, locally sourced treats and cold drinks complete a relaxed, private experience on Lake Wakatipu.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
3 Sugar Lane, Frankton, Queenstown 9300 (45°01'08.3"S 168°42'57.6"E) The boat will be ready at the jetty next to the boat ramp (between the Boatshed café and the Boatshed Bakery). Just look out for our blue Catch a Fish boat.
What to expect
Target rainbow trout, brown trout and salmon using techniques such as trolling and downrigging, with all fishing equipment provided. Because the boat is exclusively yours, we have more flexibility to adapt the fishing, pace and level of involvement to your group. Beginners can be guided through everything, while experienced anglers can get more hands-on and explore different fishing techniques where conditions allow.
Once fishing, we use our fully electric trolling motor, meaning no engine noise while we fish. Between bites, enjoy the spectacular Lake Wakatipu scenery, surrounding mountains, locally sourced treats and cold drinks on board.
If you catch a legal fish you’d like to keep, we can clean and vacuum-pack it for you to take away. Catch-and-release is also welcome. After three hours, we’ll return to Frankton Marina.

- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
