9:30 AM – Departure from our office We depart from our office to the main port, where we board a boat and navigate approximately 40 minutes along the Madre de Dios River to reach our tourist lodge. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a refreshing fruit drink made with local ingredients. Our team will provide information about the lodge and explain the activities scheduled throughout the tour. 1:00 PM – Lunch After lunch and the orientation, you will have time to settle into your room. Afternoon – Jungle Walk We begin a jungle walk through part of the rainforest, where we can observe ancient trees and, with some luck, monkeys, birds, and insects in their natural habitat. 7:30 PM – Night River Excursion We head out for a nighttime boat ride along the river in search of caimans. At night, their eyes can shine when illuminated, making it an ideal time to observe them as they become active and search for food.
2:30 AM – Departure: We leave the lodge and travel 45 minutes by boat to Puerto Maldonado, where our vehicle awaits. We then drive about 1.5 hours along the Interoceanic Highway through rainforest scenery. 4:45 AM – Puerto Filadelfia: We arrive and take a 40-minute boat ride toward the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. Along the way, we may spot capybaras, tapirs, deer and, with luck, a jaguar. Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick: We enjoy breakfast while watching colorful macaws and parrots gather at the clay walls to obtain minerals. Guides provide information about the wildlife and area. 11:30 AM: Return to the lodge following the same route. 1:00 PM: Lunch at the lodge. 3:00 PM – Kayaking: After a short rest, we kayak on the Madre de Dios River, with opportunities to see butterflies, turtles, birds and other wildlife. 8:00 PM: Dinner.
4:30 AM – Breakfast: Early breakfast at the lodge. 5:00 AM – Sandoval Lake: Visit Sandoval Lake in the Tambopata National Reserve. Reach the lake after a 3-km jungle hike and explore its rich biodiversity. With luck, you may see howler monkeys, turtles, black caimans, giant river otters, herons, kingfishers, toucans, hoatzins and native rainforest plants. A local guide explains the ecosystems and wildlife. 1:00 PM – Lunch: Lunch at the lodge. 3:00 PM – Jungle Adventure: Take a 20-minute boat ride and a short rainforest walk to the adventure area. Hanging Bridge & Zip Line: Enjoy hanging bridges and zip-line activities surrounded by the rainforest. 5:00 PM – Return: Boat ride back to the lodge, with sunset views and possible sightings of toucans or parrots. 8:00 PM – Night Jungle Walk: After dinner, explore the rainforest at night and look for frogs, toads, fireflies, crickets, grasshoppers, tarantulas, reptiles and other nocturnal wildlife.
8:00 AM – Breakfast: Breakfast at the lodge. 9:30 AM – Tapir Trail: Explore the Tapir Trail, a jungle path leading to an aguaje palm area. During the 3-hour hike, learn about rainforest ecosystems and seasonal changes while looking for wild pigs, rodents, toucans, oropendolas and animal tracks. Seasonal Information: Between November and April, the area may become flooded and can provide habitat for anacondas. Seasonal changes create different rainforest environments known locally as aguajales or swamp areas. 1:00 PM – Lunch: Lunch at the lodge. 2:30 PM – Sport Fishing (Optional): Enjoy an optional fishing activity by boat, with opportunities to see parrots and toucans. Depending on conditions, possible catches include piranhas, pacu, gamitana, palometa, sardines, catfish, doncella and other Amazonian fish. 4:00 PM – Return: End of the rainforest experience and return to the city.
