The experience begins with pick-up at the Main Square of Puerto Maldonado, a central and easily recognizable meeting point. From there, travel to the port and board a boat for approximately 30 minutes along the Madre de Dios River toward the Tambopata National Reserve. After registering at the reserve entrance, enjoy a 3-kilometer guided walk through the Amazon rainforest, learning about its biodiversity, native plants, and wildlife. Continue to Sandoval Lake for a canoe ride through its peaceful waters, with opportunities to observe giant river otters, monkeys, hoatzins, turtles, and a variety of birds. Enjoy a traditional Amazonian lunch before continuing wildlife observation around the lake. As the afternoon approaches, admire the sunset over the rainforest and lake. The day concludes with dinner at the lodge followed by a guided nighttime walk to look for frogs, insects, tarantulas, owls, and other nocturnal wildlife.
The day begins with an early morning birdwatching excursion around Sandoval Lake, offering opportunities to spot macaws, toucans, herons, and cormorants. Return to the lodge for a traditional Amazonian breakfast with tropical fruits, fresh juices, artisan bread, and local coffee. Continue with a final canoe exploration of Sandoval Lake, looking for wildlife in quieter areas of the lake. Afterward, take a 3-kilometer guided walk back through the Tambopata National Reserve, observing butterflies, medicinal plants, and the sounds of the rainforest along the way. Board the boat for the return journey along the Madre de Dios River, enjoying the Amazonian scenery and final wildlife sightings before reaching Puerto Maldonado, where the experience concludes.
