At our meeting spot we will discover how our Founding Father's passions about liberty - and the opposite sex as well! We'll follow three of our Founding Fathers who served here, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry, and the passions that burned within them.
At the Catherine Blaikely House formal gardens, we'll learn the schoolboy crushes and indiscretions of a young - and lusty - Thomas Jefferson. We'll also learn how he courted his great love, Martha Wayles Skelton. And his later romps with Maria Cosway in Paris.
At the Governor's Palace we will explore the pursuits of Virginia's first state governor, the "Voice of the Revolution," Patrick Henry. We'll find out how he found his second chance at love after his first tragic marriage. How he fell head-over-heels for the young, lovely Dorothea Dandridge, and how it almost caused a scandal!
We'll explore the young, energetic George Washington, his infatuation with a friend's flirtatious wife, and how he grew into a loving, devoted husband, hero of the Revolutionary War, and revered leader of our nation as its beloved first President.
At the Custis House formal gardens, we will meet the petite, loving, and modest Martha Dandridge Custis, who won Washington's heart and changed American history.
At the John Blair House Gardens, we will conclude our tour and learn 18th-centurn courting customs, how a gentleman would introduce himself to a lady and how a lady could attract - or reject - a suitor using her secret weapon - a fan! We end this tour close to Lululemon in Merchant's Square, just in time for our 20th-century romantics to catch a romantic dinner nearby.
