Start the day with a visit to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, one of the area’s most visually impressive scenic spots. The highlight is the famous Glass Bridge, a dramatic glass-bottom bridge stretching across the canyon, offering panoramic views of the valley below. After visiting the bridge, continue into the canyon area for a scenic walking route. Depending on the day’s conditions and the selected route, the visit may include the use of scenic area transportation facilities to help make the canyon experience smoother and more comfortable.
In the afternoon, visit Yellow Dragon Cave, one of Zhangjiajie’s best-known karst cave attractions. The cave is famous for its large underground chambers, stalactites, stalagmites, and underground river scenery. The visit usually includes both walking sections and a short boat ride inside the cave. Please note that Yellow Dragon Cave includes many steps and may not be ideal for travelers with limited mobility.
Travelers will take a cable car up to Huangshi Village, one of the classic scenic areas of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. From the mountaintop walking path, they can enjoy wide panoramic views of Zhangjiajie’s sandstone peak forest, including dramatic pillar-like mountains, deep valleys, and famous viewpoints such as Star-Picking Platform and Five-Finger Peak. This area is ideal for seeing Zhangjiajie from a broad, elevated perspective.
Travelers will enjoy a relaxing walk along Golden Whip Stream, a peaceful valley trail at the foot of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The path follows a clear mountain stream through forested scenery, with towering sandstone cliffs rising on both sides. Along the way, travelers may see natural rock formations, fresh mountain water, and wild macaques. This is a slower-paced nature experience and a great contrast to the panoramic mountain views of Huangshi Village.
At Ten-Mile Gallery, travelers will enjoy a scenic ride through a beautiful valley surrounded by Zhangjiajie’s famous sandstone peaks. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere and naturally shaped rock formations that resemble people, animals, and traditional Chinese landscape paintings. The sightseeing train makes this stop easy and comfortable, while still offering great views of the forested mountains and dramatic peak scenery.
Visit Yuanjiajie, the famous mountain area associated with the floating mountain scenery from the movie Avatar. This is one of the most iconic viewing areas in Zhangjiajie, offering spectacular views of sandstone pillars and mountain forests.
Continue to Tianzi Mountain, another major scenic area inside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. This area is known for wide panoramic views, classic peak forest scenery, and some of the most representative landscapes in Zhangjiajie.
Visit Tianmen Mountain, one of Zhangjiajie’s most famous and dramatic attractions. Take the cable car up the mountain and enjoy views of cliffs, valleys, mountain roads, and the city below. The mountaintop visit may include the west line and, depending on time and conditions, part of the east line. Tianmen Mountain is well known for its cliffside walkways, glass skywalk sections, mountain temple area, and panoramic viewpoints. Continue to Tianmen Cave, also known as Heaven’s Gate, the natural mountain arch that has become one of Zhangjiajie’s most recognizable landmarks. The visit includes the mountain escalator system and the famous stairway area below Tianmen Cave.
Travelers will explore Fenghuang Ancient Town, one of the most atmospheric old towns in western Hunan. Walk along the stone-paved streets, riverside lanes, and traditional stilted houses built along the Tuojiang River. During the visit, travelers can see landmarks such as Hong Bridge, the East Gate Tower, Wanming Pagoda, and the former residence of Shen Congwen. A boat ride on the Tuojiang River offers a relaxing way to view the ancient town from the water, with wooden houses, bridges, and riverside scenery creating a classic Fenghuang experience. This day is slower-paced and ideal for enjoying local culture, architecture, photography, and the unique charm of the old town.
