At the top, visit the Lava Store for unique souvenirs, watch a local chef cook fresh pizza using the volcano’s natural heat, and roast marshmallows over volcanic vents while enjoying spectacular views of the Guatemalan highlands.
After taking photos and soaking in the atmosphere, enjoy a relaxing horseback ride back down before returning to Antigua.

Pacaya Volcano is one of Guatemala’s most active and accessible volcanoes, located about an hour south of Guatemala City. It rises to over 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) and is known for frequent lava flows, steam vents, and volcanic ash activity. Visitors can hike on hardened lava fields and sometimes see glowing lava, depending on current activity. The volcano offers dramatic views of surrounding mountains and other volcanos.
