• Description for Travelers: Start your morning with a peaceful stroll along the iconic symbol of Otaru. Built in 1923, this beautifully preserved canal features rustic brick warehouses from Hokkaido's early trading days. Your local guide will share the fascinating history of how this area transformed into a major international hub, allowing you to capture stunning photos before the afternoon crowds arrive.
• Description for Travelers: Step back in time as you explore a vibrant, historic merchant street lined with preserved architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These Western-influenced stone buildings now house world-class glassblowing workshops, music box boutiques, and Hokkaido’s finest confectionery shops. It’s a perfect spot to experience Otaru’s unique blend of Japanese tradition and Western nostalgia.
• Description for Travelers: For lunch, your guide will take you to this historic, bustling hillside market. Famous for its narrow, lively aisles lined with seafood stalls, it offers the ultimate "Donburi" (seafood rice bowl) experience. Here, you can select your own freshest seasonal catch—such as king crab, sea urchin, and salmon roe—and have it prepared instantly for a luxurious, authentic local lunch.
• Description for Travelers: Heading west towards the peninsula, we stop at the birthplace of world-renowned Japanese malt whisky. Take a scenic walk through the beautiful, stone-walled grounds established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru. Learn about the traditional coal-fired distillation process—a rare method that remains unchanged here to this day—and appreciate the deep craft culture of Hokkaido.
• Description for Travelers: Conclude your day at the tip of the rugged Shakotan Peninsula, offering dramatic 360-degree views of the Sea of Japan. Walk along the thrilling ridge-line trail to the lighthouse, where you will be mesmerized by the intense, crystal-clear turquoise waters known nationwide as "Shakotan Blue." (Note: Access to the trail tip is subject to weather conditions for your safety.)
Lake Toya is a beautiful caldera lake between Hakodate and Sapporo. A super active volcano Mt. Usu is around the lake, and you can witness the real-time crustal activity.
Jigokudani is an explosion crater located in Noboribetsu town. The rocky crater is covered by sulfur, and so much steam is still blowing up. Japanese people see it as a unique view, and believe it is like “Hell”. Noboribetsu has a Ninja village and a famous bear park as well.
If we have time, you can visit the Mitsui Outlet Park, which is the most common shopping mall in Hokkaido. There are so many brand shops and it is selling at a discount price.
Just an hour's drive from Sapporo, this breathtaking caldera lake is renowned for having some of the clearest, most pristine water in Japan. Encircled by active volcanoes, its incredible depth prevents it from freezing even in the dead of winter. Take a peaceful lakeside stroll to admire the mesmerizing, intense turquoise hues known as "Shikotsu Blue," and experience a tranquil side of Hokkaido's wilderness that feels a world away from the city.
Asahiyama zoo is one of the most famous zoo in Japan. This Zoo is a world pioneer of "Behavioural exhibits”, which exhibits the animals as they live in the real nature. You can enjoy the common animal exhibitions, but the most famous show is the penguins' walk during the winter. If you want to see the Penguins’ walk in the summer, you can see it at Nixe Aquarium near Noboribetsu.
Biei town is one of the most popular sightseeing spots for tourists. Biei has the Blue pond, Shirahige waterfall, which has a clear blue colour created by a natural miracle. In addition, Biei is well known as the beautiful flower hills and famous trees. If you are living in a tropical country, the winter view can be an unforgettable memory.
Furano is a rural town, but its lavender gardens are super famous. In the farm, you can enjoy the view of vast lavender gardens with a sweet smell. At night, you can’t miss visiting Ningle Terrace at the New Furano Prince Hotel. The park has so many beautiful small houses, and each house has different handicraft makers with their own themes.
