An experience full of history, catrinas, offerings, tradition, and lucha libre.
We will meet at the main entrance of the Palace of Fine Arts. The guide will be waiting for you with a red umbrella.
We will start in front of this cultural icon of Mexico, famous for its white marble architecture and its murals of Diego Rivera and Siqueiros. Here you will receive the introduction to the tour, where we will talk about the relationship between art, life and death in Mexican culture.
We will walk through the oldest park in America, a place where the ancient coexists with the modern. During Día de Muertos, the Alameda is filled with altars, catrinas and cempasúchil flowers and also with costumed pop characters, creating a unique surreal atmosphere.
We will go to the side of the museum where we will talk about the famous mural “Dream of a Sunday afternoon in the Central Alameda”, created by Diego Rivera. This mural is key because it made the Catrina the most recognized symbol of the Day of the Dead (entrance to the museum is not included in the tour)
On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, we will finish at Arena México, known as the Cathedral of Lucha Libre. We will talk about the history and importance of lucha libre in Mexican culture: its masks, characters, and the unique atmosphere surrounding it. At this point the tour concludes and afterwards you can enter the Lucha Libre show on your own (entrance included in the tour)
On Thursdays and Saturdays, we will finish at Arena Coliseo, known as the Funnel of Peru 77. We will talk about the history and importance of lucha libre in Mexican culture: its masks, characters, and the unique atmosphere surrounding it. At this point the tour concludes and afterwards you can enter the Lucha Libre show on your own (entrance included in the tour)
