Begin your journey at Horikiri Pass, one of Miyazaki's most famous coastal viewpoints. Enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the Nichinan Coast, and the unique Devil's Washboard rock formations stretching along the shoreline below. Formed over millions of years, these distinctive wave-shaped sandstone ridges are one of Miyazaki's most famous natural landmarks and a favourite photography location.
Board a local boat for a short cruise across the bay to Monkey Island. Home to a large population of wild Japanese macaques, the island offers a rare opportunity to walk among monkeys living freely in their natural habitat. Observe their behaviour up close and capture memorable photographs during this unique wildlife experience.
Step back in time as you explore the historic samurai district of Obi. Wander through beautifully preserved streets lined with traditional architecture, visit the castle grounds, and discover why Obi is often referred to as the "Little Kyoto of Kyushu."
Conclude the day at one of Japan's most remarkable shrines. Built inside a cave overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Udo Jingu combines dramatic natural scenery with centuries of history and tradition. Learn about local customs, admire the stunning coastal setting, and experience one of Miyazaki's most sacred sites.
Continue south to the dramatic coastline of Cape Toi. Famous for its rugged beauty and free-roaming Misaki wild horses, this area offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Kyushu. Watch the wild horses grazing across the hills while enjoying sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. Visit the historic Cape Toi Lighthouse, located at the southern tip of the peninsula. From here, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline and open ocean.
