  Takachiho Gorge

  Carved by volcanic forces over tens of thousands of years, Takachiho Gorge is one of Japan’s most breathtaking natural landscapes, nestled in the mountains of northern Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyushu Island. This spectacular canyon is defined by dramatic columnar basalt cliffs rising 80–100 meters above the emerald waters of the Gokase River. The gorge offers a striking natural setting that transforms with the seasons — lush greenery in spring and summer, vibrant reds and golds in autumn, and a quiet, misty atmosphere in winter.   Amano Iwato Shrine

  Step into one of Japan’s most important mythological sites at Amano Iwato Shrine, deeply connected to the legend of the sun goddess Amaterasu. According to Shinto tradition, this is the place where she hid in a cave, plunging the world into darkness until the other gods lured her back out, restoring light to the world. Set along a peaceful river gorge, the shrine is surrounded by dense forest, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.   Sea of Clouds Sunset Your Takachiho Gorge tour concludes at the renowned Kunimigaoka Observatory, one of Japan’s most scenic sunset viewpoints.
