If it’s your first time in Sardinia, this easy and welcoming shore excursion is a great way to see the island’s highlights without stress. You’ll be picked up directly from your cruise ship in a modern, air-conditioned bus and guided through Cagliari, Sardinia’s beautiful capital city.
Start with a scenic stop at Monte Urpino, where you’ll enjoy wide views over the city and the Gulf of Angels. Drive past Poetto Beach and the Molentargius Lagoon, known for its peaceful water and flamingos. Then, explore the historic Castello District, with its old towers, quiet streets, and lookout points. Finish with a relaxed walk through the Marina District, where you can shop or grab a bite to eat.
This tour is planned around your ship’s schedule and includes a little bit of everything—views, history, and free time—so you can enjoy Sardinia at your own pace and return to the ship on time, without any rushing.

Meeting and pickup
After disembarking, take the shuttle to the passenger terminal. Once you exit the terminal gate, walk towards the covered sidewalk known as “Good Wave.” We will be waiting at the end of the sidewalk, approximately 100 meters from the gate. Look for our guide holding a sign that reads "VEXPERIO".

Port Pickup and Marina Drive Your day begins right at the port, where you’ll be greeted by your local guide and step into a modern, air-conditioned bus. As you settle in, enjoy a relaxing drive through the Marina District. This welcoming area gives you your first look at Cagliari, with views of elegant arcades, the busy port, and the city’s waterfront charm.

Basilica of Bonaria Your first stop is the peaceful Basilica of Bonaria, set on a small hill just a short drive from the port. 3Monte Urpinu
Monte Urpino Viewpoint Next, your guide will take you up to Monte Urpino, one of the best spots in Cagliari for sweeping views. As the bus climbs, the landscape opens up to reveal the Gulf of Angels, the city, and green countryside. At the top, you’ll step off the bus to admire the views and take photos. This stop requires very little walking and is one of the easiest ways to enjoy Sardinia’s natural beauty.

Poetto Beach & Molentargius Lagoon Drive Sit back and enjoy a scenic drive past Poetto Beach and the nearby Molentargius Lagoon. On one side, you’ll see the sparkling blue sea, and on the other, you might spot Sardinia’s famous pink flamingos in the wetlands. This is a no-stress, stay-on-the-bus portion of the tour—just enjoy the views and keep your camera ready.

Castello District Walking Tour Now it’s time to explore the Castello District, Cagliari’s oldest and most historic neighborhood. Your guide will lead you on a relaxed walk past the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of Santa Maria. You’ll also see medieval towers and stone streets that tell stories from long ago. The walking pace is gentle, and your guide will point out places where you can stop to rest or take photos of the beautiful views from this hilltop area.

6Via Roma
Via Roma Free Time To finish the day, you’ll have some free time along Via Roma, a wide street near the port with shaded arcades, local shops, and outdoor cafés. You can enjoy a coffee, try a local snack, or pick up a souvenir. The area is flat and easy to navigate, making it perfect for a slow stroll or a quiet moment before heading back to your ship.

7Cagliari Cruise Port
Return to Port At the end of the tour, your guide and driver will take you back to the port with plenty of time before your ship departs. You’ll return relaxed and ready to reflect on a day filled with local history, great views, and the warm welcome of Sardinia. Everything has been planned for you, so you can simply enjoy your time ashore with confidence.

- This tour includes approximately 1 hour of walking and is not suitable for guests with mobility limitations. Cagliari Old Town (District Castello) can only be explored on foot, and there are no alternative transportation options available during the walking portion of the tour. Please note that the route also includes steep surfaces, stairs, and an uphill walk of approximately 450 meters. We kindly ask all participants to carefully assess their physical ability before making a reservation. Refunds cannot be provided to guests who are unable to complete the tour due to accessibility limitations.
- Due to the high temperatures during the travel season, we recommend bringing water, a hat or other head covering, sunglasses, and comfortable walking shoes for your comfort.
