We continue our journey over the Vršič Pass, the highest mountain road in Slovenia at 1,611 meters above sea level. As we gently wind our way up through a series of scenic bends, we’re surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Julian Alps, right in the heart of Triglav National Park. The road was built during World War I by Russian prisoners of war, and along the way we pass the Russian Chapel, a touching wooden memorial that commemorates their story
As we descend into the Soča Valley, we are welcomed by one of the most beautiful alpine river valleys in Europe. The turquoise waters, suspension bridges, and dramatic cliffs create a truly unforgettable panorama. We take a short, flexible walk along one of the river’s famous natural gorges – such as Velika Korita, Mala Korita, or another hidden gem – depending on conditions and group ability. It’s a perfect way to get close to the raw beauty of the Soča River.
We stop in Bovec, a charming alpine town nestled beneath the mighty Kanin mountain. Known as Slovenia’s adventure sports capital, Bovec is lively in summer with activities like canyoning, rafting, and hiking. We’ll have free time here for lunch and a bit of exploration.
There is cca 1/2 hour walk to Kozjak Waterfall. Your guide will accompany you to 15 m high amazing waterfall.
