What participants can see and experience: Participants will experience an authentic Goma fire ritual inside the main hall of Koyasan Tokyo Betsuin, guided by an English-speaking local guide and a Buddhist monk. They will: Learn the basics of Koyasan, Shingon Buddhism, and the meaning of the ritual Try shakyo, a short sutra-copying practice Write a personal wish on a goma-gi wooden prayer stick Take part in the Goma fire ritual with chanting, incense, and sacred fire Finish with Ajikan meditation, a traditional Shingon Buddhist meditation practice Take permitted photos and videos during the experience No prior knowledge of Buddhism is required, and guests may choose to observe rather than actively participate.
