What to expect

Create a colorful keepsake with shippo, the traditional Japanese craft of cloisonné enameling, at a quiet local studio in Yachimata, Chiba, near Tokyo and Narita Airport. Choose a pendant, brooch, or key holder, then select your colors and create your own design.

With support from the studio staff, apply glass enamel to a metal base and see how firing at high temperature transforms it into a glossy, colorful surface. Discover the pleasure of working with color and detail as your design takes shape, creating an accessory that reflects your taste.

This approximately two-hour workshop offers a hands-on introduction to Japanese craftsmanship. Your finished piece will be ready to take home the same day: a personal souvenir to wear, use, or give to someone special.

The workshop is conducted in Japanese, with English-language printed instructions available to guide you through the process.
