On this private six-hour tour, explore the island with a local guide born and raised in Hiroshima while discovering its history, traditions and connection with nature. Visit the Great Torii Gate, UNESCO-listed Itsukushima Shrine and peaceful Daishoin Temple.

As this is a fully private tour, you can walk at your own pace and spend more time at the places that interest you. Lunch is usually enjoyed on Miyajima, with help from your guide in finding a restaurant that suits your tastes.

Travel from central Hiroshima to Miyajima by public transportation. From Hiroshima Station, the usual route by JR train and ferry takes about 50–60 minutes. Depending on your meeting point, schedule and preferences, your guide will help you choose the most suitable route. Your guide will travel with you from the meeting point, so you can simply enjoy the journey without worrying about finding the right train or ferry. Transportation fares between Hiroshima and Miyajima are not included in the tour price.
See Miyajima’s most iconic landmark, the great torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine. At high tide, it appears to float on the sea, while at low tide, you may be able to walk closer to it. Its appearance changes throughout the day with the tides, weather and light.
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Itsukushima Shrine, famous for its elegant vermilion buildings built over the sea. Walk through its corridors while learning about the shrine’s history, distinctive architecture and deep connection with the island.
A personal favorite of your guide, Daishoin is a peaceful temple at the foot of Mount Misen. With beautiful wooden halls and charming, uniquely expressive statues, this hidden gem often exceeds visitors’ expectations. Many guests leave with a smile, saying it was one of their favorite stops.
A lively street lined with local crafts, snacks, restaurants and souvenir shops. We usually have lunch on Miyajima, and your guide can help you find a restaurant that suits your tastes. You can also try Hiroshima’s famous maple-leaf-shaped cakes, called momiji manju. Please note that the time available for strolling will depend on the tour schedule.
