Experience Authentic Japanese Dance in a Private Studio Session

2 hours (approximately)
Offered in: Japanese and 1 more

This experience is not just dance practice, but it provides a Deeper Cultural Perspective
Japanese dance is not always easy to understand at first glance.
Unlike many Western art forms, it expresses emotions through stillness, subtle gestures, and what is not shown. Instead of explaining everything, it invites you to imagine.
In today’s world, we are constantly surrounded by information — social media, television, and endless content telling us what to see and how to feel.
But Japanese dance offers a different experience.
It gives you space to slow down, to feel, and to use your own imagination.
And imagination is a powerful gift — it shapes how we see the world and even how we create our own lives.
Through this experience, I hope you will not only learn how to dance, but also rediscover the beauty of your own imagination.

What to expect

This is a private, small-group experience (maximum 4 guests), designed to be personal, intimate, and truly authentic.
We begin with the story behind Japanese dance — its history, philosophy, and how it differs from Western styles. You’ll discover a simple fan to express entire scenes, emotions, and even nature itself.
Through a fun interactive game, I will demonstrate different fan expressions, and you’ll guess what they represent — a unique and memorable way to experience this art form.
Before dancing, you’ll learn the essential foundations: posture, bowing etiquette, and the refined movements that create the elegance of Japanese dance.
I will then perform the piece for you, followed by a step-by-step lesson where each movement is explained through its meaning and story.
You will learn a short and simple choreography carefully designed for beginners.
Midway, we take a relaxing break with matcha and Japanese sweets
While enjoying tea, you will watch a live performance by the instructor. At the end, you can wear an authentic silk kimono over your clothes (not a full kimono dressing) and take beautiful photos with elegant poses.
