Exit 1 from Keihan, Gion-Shijo station. The exit is down a long tunnel--80m--from the station and then up some stairs. When you leave this exit, turn right and a small park is immediately in front of you. The tour leader will meet you there.

    Here we'll go into the shrine and learn more about Shinto and Buddhism. There are many sub-shrines inside that are of interest. There is also a special connection between this shrine and Kennin-ji Temple.

    We'll look around the grounds and inside the temple buildings, and we'll think about how the first samurai government gained power from the Imperial Court. There are many important cultural artefacts in the temple grounds and buildings.

    We'll go into the shrine and learn more about how the Imperial Court lost power to the first samurai government. There are many sub-shrines inside and a special ceremony that visitors can carry out.
