Cook sukiyaki in a private Tokyo home with a host trained under a Hilton “Dynasty” chef. The half-day class centers on A5 Iga Wagyu and Koshihikari rice slow-cooked in a traditional donabe clay pot, with a take-home recipe to recreate the meal. Before reaching the home, take a short walk through Gakugei-Daikanyama, a local neighborhood near Shibuya. Meals, coffee, tea, soda, and bottled water are provided, and BYO alcohol is welcome without corkage.
Daikon Radish Salad
A light and refreshing Japanese radish salad, served as a palate cleanser before the main course.
Iga Beef Sukiyaki
Premium Iga beef from Mie Prefecture, prepared as traditional sukiyaki-a dish enjoyed on special occasions in Japan and easy to recreate at home.
Seasonal Fresh Fruit
A selection of fresh, seasonal fruit, served lightly to finish the meal.
Gakugei-daigaku Station (Tokyu Toyoko Line) has one ticket gate. I will meet you outside the gate with a sign that says “Sukiyaki Experience – Demi.” From Shibuya, take a Local or Express train (Limited Express does not stop). The ride is about 6 minutes. We will walk to my home (about 15 minutes).
