This is not a traditional walking tour of Montmartre’s painters and famous landmarks.
It is a journey through the stories of the women who helped shape the neighborhood’s artistic, literary, and cultural identity: artists, singers, writers, filmmakers, and influential figures, who often don't receive the same recognition as their male counterparts.
As we wander through Montmartre’s village streets, you will discover how women found space to create, express themselves, and influence Parisian cultural life during periods of great artistic and social change.
Along the way, you’ll hear stories of creativity, ambition, resilience, and transformation, all set against the backdrop of one of Paris’ most iconic and inspiring neighborhoods.
Halfway through the tour, we’ll pause at a local independent café run by a French couple, supporting the small businesses that help preserve the spirit of Montmartre and encouraging a slower, more sustainable way to experience Paris.
We will meet just outside of the Musée de la Vie Romantique. Your guide will be carrying a tote bag with “HERA walking tours” written on it.
The tour ends at the Sacre Coeur Basilica, which you can explore once the tour is over.
Learn about the Pigalle area and the history behind the Moulin Rouge

We will stop at the I love you wall, and talk about how and why it was made.
