  Explore an informative museum that explains the planning, construction and wartime history of the Thailand–Burma Railway. Through maps, photographs, personal accounts and historical displays, learn about the prisoners of war and Asian laborers who endured extremely difficult conditions while building the route. This visit provides important context for everything you will see later in the day.

  RIVER KWAI BRIDGE

  Walk across the famous River Kwai Bridge, one of Kanchanaburi’s best-known landmarks and a surviving section of the historic railway. Take time to enjoy views along the river, photograph the bridge and hear how the original railway crossing became internationally associated with the story of the Death Railway.

• Tham Krasae Death Railway Bridge (Pass by)

  Board a local train and travel along a surviving section of the historic Death Railway through the countryside of Kanchanaburi. Watch rural communities, farmland and forested hills pass outside the window before the train approaches the dramatic wooden trestle beside the River Kwai Noi. The journey allows you to experience the railway itself rather than only visiting it from the ground.

  Tham Krasae Death Railway Bridge

  After leaving the train, walk along the historic wooden railway trestle built against a steep limestone cliff above the River Kwai Noi. Enjoy one of the most scenic views on the route, explore the small Tham Krasae cave containing a peaceful Buddha shrine and learn why this narrow section was especially challenging to construct. The pace can be adjusted so guests have enough time for photographs and can walk only as far along the railway as they feel comfortable.
