    Mylodon Cave Natural Monument

Visitor center: it is at the entrance of the monument. It has panels about the history of the place, the fauna of the last glaciation (the melodont, the native horse, the Patagonian saber-toothed tiger) and the first inhabitants of the area. La Cueva Grande: it is a huge opening on the slope of Cerro Benítez. Upon entering, the size is impressive: the ceiling is very high and the cave goes in about 200 m into twilight, with a floor of earth and rocks. The walls and ceiling are made of conglomerate, a rock made of stones and cemented sediments. On the ceiling, there are hanging formations left by the water. The cave was excavated by an ancient glacial lake, and the marks of the waves are still visible on the walls. The milodon replica: near the entrance there is a life-size figure of the giant sloth, standing on two legs. It is about 3 m high and is the classic photo of the place.
