Hotel pick up
The tour begins with hotel pickup in Cusco at 08:30 AM. We will travel through the scenic landscapes of the Sacred Valley, passing traditional Andean villages, agricultural fields, and beautiful mountain views along the way.
Our first stop will be Moray, an impressive Inca archaeological site famous for its circular agricultural terraces. These terraces descend deep into the earth and were likely used by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory. Different levels created distinct microclimates, allowing experimentation with crops such as corn, potatoes, and quinoa. During the visit, we will walk around the terraces, learn about Inca farming techniques, and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding valley.
Next, we will continue to the Maras Salt Mines (Salineras de Maras). This remarkable site features more than 3,000 salt pools spread across the mountainside. The salt is naturally produced from a mineral spring and has been harvested by local families using traditional methods for generations. Visitors will have time to walk along the viewpoints, take photos, and observe the traditional salt extraction process. After visiting the salt mines, we will pass through the traditional town of Maras, known for its colonial architecture and quiet streets. This short stop allows visitors to experience the local atmosphere and appreciate the cultural heritage of the region.
Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 02:30 PM. This half day tour offers a perfect combination of Inca history, unique landscapes, and living Andean traditions.
